On the ghats of Banaras, the nation's first water taxi powered by hydrogen will now operate. The water taxi has finished all of its preparations and will begin running on June 15.


The nation's first river cruise was also launched earlier from Banaras. The water taxi is being run between the main ghats of Banaras, while the trip must travel from Dibrugarh in Assam to Dibrugarh in Bangladesh via Bengal within 50 days. This river Ganges water taxi is being launched as part of the experimental initiative. More of these water taxis will start operating soon. What will the water taxi's route be?

According to Additional Municipal Commissioner Sumit Kumar, this water taxi will travel between Namo Ghat and Ramnagar Fort. There are two locations separated by around 11 km. There have also been numerous stops in between. There will be a total of three stops along this route. At Asi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, and Raj Ghat, this water taxi will also stop. According to the official, there are now 2 water taxis operating on the Ganges, but after the flood season is through, plans call for the operation of 4 additional water taxis.

This water taxi is now being run by Varanasi Municipal Corporation in an effort to ease traffic congestion on the highways. The fare has been fixed, and the route has been fixed as well. This high-speed taxi would cost passengers Rs 15 per kilometre between Ramnagar and Namo Ghat. As a result, the fare for an 11-kilometer route is Rs 165.

80 people can fit in one seat at a time on a water taxi. The Roadways Management has been given control for its functioning. The water taxi now operates between Ramnagar Fort and Namo Ghat, but soon it will be expanded to Kashi Vishwanath Dham's entrance. Its work has nearly all been finished. Devotees will soon be able to go directly to Kashi Vishwanath Dham using this water taxi.
