Greece Boat Mishap: A distressing incident occurred in Greece when a boat carrying over 500 migrants unexpectedly sank in the middle of the Mediterranean. 79 people have died in this accident thus far, but the identities of the remaining people are unknown. The rescue effort is ongoing right now.

At least 79 people were killed and many more are still missing after a fishing boat carrying migrants collapsed off the coast of Greece late on Tuesday. These particulars were given by the officers.

All of these people, he said, were attempting to travel to Europe. Over the night, the Coast Guard, Navy, and aeroplanes conducted a significant search and rescue operation. The number of missing passengers is not yet known.

Nikos Alexios, a spokesman for the Coast Guard, warned owned by the government ERT TV that it was hard to estimate how many passengers were on board. People abruptly moved to one side, causing the 80–100 foot vessel to capsize, and it later sank. The deputy mayor of Kalamata, a port city in southern Greece, Ioannis Zafiropoulos, stated that there were "more than 500 people" on board.

The Coast Guard claimed that despite numerous attempts by their ships and other commercial vessels to save the yacht, they were unable. On the ferry, passengers frequently expressed a desire to travel to Italy. According to the Coast Guard, the boat's engine failed at about 1.40 am on Tuesday, and the vessel then began to sink. The statement claims that the boat sank within 10 to 15 minutes.

The boat sank in international waters some 75 kilometres to the southwest of the southern Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, according to officials. 104 passengers on board have been saved. 25 of the patients who were saved were hospitalised after complaining of "hypothermia" or fever.
