Reliance Group's Tony Jesudasan passed away at the age of 71

 

Jesudasan reportedly suffered a heart attack as soon as he took off from Bhopal in early February

At the age of 71, Tony Jesudasan - a key lieutenant of Anil Ambani's Reliance Group and one of the finest corporate communications and corporate affairs professionals - passed away this morning. Jesudasan is survived by wife Parul Sharma and daughter Preetika.

Jesudasan reportedly suffered a heart attack on board a flight from Bhopal in early February.

On arrival, the 71-year-old was taken to Fortis Hospital in Delhi, where he underwent angioplasty. Jesudasan was then shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

Jesudasan, who was the group president for corporate communications and corporate affairs of R-ADAG, remained in critical care till his demise around 5 am today, according to a PTI report.

Jesudasan, also known as TJ, turned 71 while he was at Fortis Hospital in the national capital.

An MBA from FMS, Delhi, Jesudasan was invited by Dhirubhai Ambani in 1990 to join the then undivided Reliance.

After Dhirubhai's death, Jesudasan decided to join the younger brother when brothers Mukesh and Anil were separated. He remained Anil Ambani's trusted lieutenant in Delhi and his chief troubleshooter.

He had the rare ability to think and act calmly under great pressure and had long-standing relationships with people across the political spectrum, businessmen and the press.
