BJP's Amit Malviya went a step ahead and mentioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's son Rehan, who writes his name as Rehan Rajiv Gandhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday and said he did not understand why no one from the Gandhi family used the Nehru surname, a statement the Congress condemned. This has also started a controversy, as the Gandhi vs Gandhi controversy continues on Twitter.
BJP's Amit Malviya went a step ahead and mentioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's son Rehan, who writes his name as Rehan Rajiv Gandhi.
"If Priyanka Vadra's son Rehan can write his name as Rehan Rajiv Gandhi (in an attempt to usurp his maternal grandfather's legacy) then why doesn't anyone in the family use the Nehru surname? Shame?" Malviya tweeted.
The surname Gandhi is not Gandhi, it is Gandhi. He is Rahul Gandhi, not Gandhi. Also, if Priyanka Vadra's son Rehan can write his name as Rehan Rajiv Gandhi (in an attempt to usurp his maternal grandfather's inheritance) then why doesn't anyone in the family use the Nehru surname? Ashamed?

Commenting on the tweet, another BJP leader from Andhra Pradesh Vishnu Vardhan Reddy tweeted: "Since yesterday Congress is shouting that Gandhi family is using their father's surname, but if we check history it is Gandhi is and Gandhi is not. Also why @'s son." Priyanka Gandhi is using her maternal grandfather's name and Rehaan has become Rajiv Gandhi?"

As the debate rages on, a purported photograph of Feroze Gandhi's birth certificate, taken from Bertil Falk's 'Feroze the Forgotten Gandhi', is being shared on social media. The spelling there is 'Gandhi'.
