Budget 2023: Government unveils one-time small savings scheme for women, offers 7.5% rate

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget 2023 speech on Wednesday launched a new one-time small savings scheme for women or girls, Mahila Samman Savings Certificate. The scheme will offer 7.5% interest rate and will have the benefit of partial withdrawal option.

However, the scheme will be made available for a period of two years till March 2025-end.

"To celebrate the elixir of independence, a new one-time small savings scheme, Mahila Samman Savings Certificate, will be made available for a period of two years till March 2025," he said.

According to the FM, the scheme will provide deposit facility up to ₹2 lakh in the name of women or girls for a period of 2 years at a fixed interest rate of 7.5% with partial withdrawal option.
