Terminal 2 of Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport will be operational from January 15. On a Twitter post, the Bengaluru airport wrote, "#BLRAairport will commence domestic operations at Terminal 2 on January 15, 2023 with @OfficialStarAir. We look forward to welcoming you at T2!"
According to media reports, Star Air will operate the first flight from Terminal 2 and the aircraft will fly from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi in Karnataka.
Other domestic airlines like Vistara and Air Asia will also start operations from Terminal 2 soon.
The terminal is expected to start international operations in April.
A five-lane road is also being prepared for smooth vehicle arrival and departure for the movement of passengers at the airport.
Terminal 2 is said to be an eco-friendly facility, constructed largely using bamboo for an estimated ₹5,000 crore.

Based on sustainability initiatives, according to the Airport Authority, Terminal-2 will be the largest terminal in the world to receive a pre-certified Platinum rating by the US GBC (Green Building Council) before starting operations.
Terminal 2 will be able to handle around 5-6 crore passengers from the current capacity of 25 million annually.
