In the 97th edition of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is a democratic society by nature.

"Democracy is in our veins, it is in our culture – it has been an integral part of our work for centuries. By nature, we are a democratic society," said the Prime Minister.

Apart from this, PM Modi expressed concern over the increase in electronic waste in the world. Citing a United Nations report, PM Modi said that 50 million tonnes of e-waste is being brought every year. PM said that 800 laptops are thrown every second. But, 17 types of precious metals including gold and silver can be extracted from this e-waste through different processes.

Praising Uttarakhand-based Atero Recycling Company, which recycles e-waste, the PM said, "Atero has obtained several patents in this field. It has also earned a lot of awards by developing its e-waste recycling technology". .

Furthermore, PM Modi mentioned how India has done important work for wetlands. "You will be glad to know the work India has done for its wetlands. Wetlands are very important for the survival of our earth as many birds and animals depend on them."

Referring to the winter sports in Kashmir, the Prime Minister said, "Kashmiri youth make cricket even more amazing in the snow." Through this, young players are also searched in Kashmir, who will later play as Team India. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the youth about sports.

PM Modi also mentioned millet entrepreneurs of Odisha. He said, "Odisha's millet entrepreneurs are in limelight these days. A self-help group of about 1500 women from the tribal district Sundergarh is associated with the Odisha Millet Mission. Here women are making everything from millet to cookies, rasgulla, roses. Berries and even cakes. Due to their huge demand in the market, the income of the women is also increasing."
