Nothing CEO Carl Pei taunts JBL for copying the Nothing ear (stick) design

• In 2021, Nothing introduced its first product - Nothing Year (1). The company will launch its first smartphone with a transparent design in 2022.

There is nothing new if a consumer technology brand is found to be copying a product design from a rival's product. This has happened in the past and will probably continue to happen. Recently, Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, mocked JBL for copying the transparent design of the Nothing Ear (Stick).

In a post on microblogging site Twitter, Pei shared a picture of JBL's new TWS earbuds with a transparent design. The image was titled 'JB-L', a play on the company's name.

Twitteratis, as always, didn't shy away from voicing their opinion on the post. While some criticized Pei and pointed out how similar the Nothing Phone (1) looks to the iPhone, others praised Pei's post.

"Looks like the guy has a patent on transparent technology? If anyone ever makes something transparent he'll say oh they copied from us lol," one user replied.

"Okay and the phone (1) looks like a transparent iPhone. What are we doing here, Carl?" wrote another. "Don't you have the same design as the Airpods Pro and the Phone 1 as the iPhone?

"When someone copy your style you don't understand your principle of posting. More than that you just copied others design. What's the use of pointing it out when others did it? It looks cringing man ," replied one Twitter user.

Some users pointed out how transparent the design existed before Nothing launched its earbuds and smartphones. “The JBL Tune 225TWS Ghost Edition was released 2 years ago. Try again!" One user wrote, "Ehm...what about the HTC U12+?"

Supporting Carl Pei, a user wrote, "When others start copying or getting inspired by you, it means you have done something good." "Looks like you're on the right track," said another.

In 2021, Nothing introduced its first product - Nothing Year (1). The company launched its first smartphone with a transparent design last year. In the same year, Nothing Year (Stick) also made its debut.
