Fancode to stream ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in India

The first edition will be played in South Africa from January 14 to 29 and will feature 41 matches between 16 teams

Sports streaming platform Fancode has signed the exclusive digital streaming rights for the inaugural season of the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup for India. There will be 41 matches between 16 teams in this T20 cricket tournament lasting 16 days.

The inaugural edition of the World Cup will be played across four venues in the two host cities of Benoni and Potchefstroom in South Africa. The event, showcasing future stars of the game, also sees Rwanda and Indonesia playing in an ICC World Cup for the first time. All matches will be streamed on the company's app and website.

Cricket on the platform is hugely popular, the firm said with 50 million users, as it streams domestic and international cricket tournaments throughout the year from countries such as Australia, England and the West Indies. It also live-streamed India's tour of West Indies 2022 with former Indian team coach Ravi Shastri for its campaigns.

It has streamed other Indian and international women's cricket, including last year's India vs Sri Lanka series, The Hundred, the Women's Big Bash League and domestic women's leagues in India and around the world.

Some of the names that will feature in the tournament will be India's international cricketers, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh. Verma and Ghosh, with their rich experience for the senior team in marquee competitions, will help India clinch their maiden ICC title on January 29 in Potchefstroom.

The 16 playing nations will compete against each other in four groups. Group A includes Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and America. Group B includes England, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Rwanda. Ireland, Indonesia, West Indies and New Zealand are in Group C. Finally, Group D consists of India, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Scotland.

The U19 Women's T20 World Cup is part of an African celebration of cricket with two World Cups in the span of two months, with the senior event, the ICC Women's T20 World Cup taking place in Cape Town, Paarl and Gberha between 10 and 26 February. ,
