Covid-19: India sees decline in daily cases, logs 173 fresh infections

 


COVID-19: Currently, the number of active cases in India is 2,670.

India witnessed a decline in daily Covid-19 cases as the country reported 173 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday, taking the cumulative tally to 4.46 crore (4, 46,78,822).

On Sunday, 265 new cases of corona virus were reported in the country.

Currently, India's active caseload stands at 2,670 which comprises 0.01% of the total infections. A decrease of 36 has been registered in the number of active Covid cases in a span of 24 hours.

The total number of Covid cases in the last 24 hours has crossed 4.46 crore (4,46,78,822) and the death toll is 5,30,707, of which one death was reported from Kerala and one from Uttarakhand. Data updated at 8 am.

As per official figures, the national recovery rate has risen to 98.80 per cent, according to the ministry's website.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4,41,45, 445, while the fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 percent.

The ministry said on its website that 220.10 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been given so far in the country.

India's Covid-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and one crore on 19 December, 2020.

India crossed 20 million cases on 4 May, 30 million on 23 June 2021 and 40 million on 25 January this year.
