Apple has launched the second generation HomePod smart speaker in global markets including India. The company says the new smart speaker is packed with Apple innovation and Siri intelligence, and includes support for immersive spatial audio tracks.

The new HomePod is available to order online starting today, with availability beginning Friday, February 3rd.

Apple HomePod (2nd generation) is priced at ₹32,990. Smart speaker on iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later, or iPhone 8 and later running iOS 16.3 or later; or iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation) and later, iPad Air (3rd generation) and later, or iPad mini (5th generation) and later running iPadOS 16.3.

The device is available for pre-order via apple.com/in/store. Its sale in the country will start from February 3.

Features of Apple HomePod (2nd generation)

The all-new HomePod smart speaker comes in White and Midnight color options. It features 100 percent recycled mesh fabric, with a color-matched woven power cable. The device features a built-in bass-EQ mic and 20mm drivers with five tweeters around the base.

Powering the Apple HomePod (2nd generation) smart speaker is the S7 chipset that is said to offer even more advanced computational audio that maximizes the full potential of its acoustic system for an immersive listening experience. Another feature is the room-sensing technology on the HomePod that adapts the sound in real time.

Users can listen to a catalog of more than 100 million songs with Apple Music, enjoy spatial audio with a HomePod or as a stereo pair, or create a immersive home theater experience with Apple TV 4K. Using Multi Room Audio with AirPlay, users can simply say "Hey Siri" or touch and hold the top of the HomePod to play the same song on multiple HomePod speakers, separately on different HomePod speakers - Can play separate songs, or even be used as an intercom. The company says that all smart home communications are always end-to-end encrypted so they cannot be read by Apple, including camera recordings with HomeKit Secure Video. When Siri is used, the audio of the request is not stored by default.
