Udaipur to host G20 Sherpa meeting from December 4

As India assumes the year-long chairmanship of the Group of 20 or G20, the Indian 'City of Lakes' is set to host the first meeting of the bloc. The Sherpa meeting of G20 will be held in Rajasthan's Udaipur district from December 4 to 7.

India's Sherpa for the G20, Amitabh Kant will chair the meeting. On 4 December there will be a side event on Transforming Lives: Accelerating the Implementation of the SDGs.

Delegations from around 40 countries will reach Udaipur for the meeting and enjoy its distinct culture, sightseeing and royal palaces. The delegates are also expected to visit Shilpgram Shilpgram Shilpgram. They will also be part of a full day excursion to Kumbalgarh Fort and Ranakpur Temple Complex.

Various folk artistes are expected to showcase Rajasthani culture to the foreign and domestic guests. World famous Langa Manganiyar folk artist Ghazi Khan will give a colorful performance on the first day of the program at Sheeshmahal of Hotel Leela.

Similarly, on all other days there will be some sort of cultural program to bring the foreign dignitaries closer to Indian culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Indian population to welcome these guests with open arms and promote the distinctive culture of their region as these people from different countries will become the future tourists and support India's many industries.

India has planned over 200 such G20 meetings throughout the year at 55 locations in the country. The theme from which India drew inspiration for its chairmanship is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One Earth One Family One Future'.

The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world's major developed and developing economies. This includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, US and European countries.
