No entry of devotees for 10 days in the sanctum sanctorum of Mahakaleshwar temple amidst huge crowd

 




• The committee has already banned visitors from carrying mobile phones inside the temple premises from December 20 for security reasons, a senior district official had said earlier. 


In view of the huge number of devotees visiting the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the management committee has decided not to allow visitors to enter the sanctum sanctorum for 10 days from today, news agency PTI reported. . 


An official of the temple committee told PTI that the ban on entry into the sanctum sanctorum would be effective till January 5. 


District Magistrate Ashish Singh said, "The decision to ban entry into the sanctum sanctorum has been taken in view of the increasing number of devotees visiting the temple at the end of the year and beginning of the new year." the chairman of the temple management committee told PTI. 


However, additional arrangements have been made for 'darshan' of the deity, he said. 


A senior district official had earlier said that the committee has already banned visitors from carrying mobile phones inside the temple premises for security reasons from December 20. 


The Mahakaleshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is one of the 12 'Jyotirlingas' in the country, sees a huge footfall of devotees every day.
