NHAI appoints Santosh Yadav as chief, Subhashish Panda as vice-chairman of DDA

 



In April-October of FY22, NHAI is likely to award about 4,913 km of highways.


The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday appointed senior bureaucrat Santosh Kumar Yadav as its chairman, according to a Personnel Ministry order.


Santosh Kumar Yadav, a 1995 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is at present Additional Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.


The order states that he has been appointed as the chairman of NHAI.


NHAI faces the uphill task of building over 50 km of highways per day in five months to meet the targeted 12,000 km in FY23 after the pace of construction slowed down to reach just a third of the target in the first seven months Used to be.


Between April and October, NHAI could manage only 4,060 km of national highways, as against 4,450 km built in the same period of pandemic-hit FY22, a decline of about 8.8%.


According to the latest data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, though there has been a dip in construction this year, there has been a pick-up in the allocation of projects. However, the number has remained stable at 5,007 km.

Subhashish Panda, a 1997 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA).


Ganji Kamala V Rao has been designated as the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.


Rao, a 1990 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, is at present the Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation Limited.


Hitesh Kumar S Makwana has been designated as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.


The order said that Rajneesh, a 1997 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, will be Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
