Karnataka: Section 144 invoked after man's murder in Mangaluru

 


Karnataka: To prevent any untoward incident, Section 144 has also been imposed in Krishnapura area of Mangaluru for 48 hours.


A group of unidentified assailants stabbed a man to death in Karnataka's Mangaluru's Krishnapura, police said on Sunday, adding that Section 144 has been imposed in the area for 48 hours to prevent any untoward incident.


According to the news agency ANI, the police officials have also ordered a ban on the sale of liquor till December 27.


N Shashi Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru said, "Section 144 of CrPC in Suratkal, Bajpe, Kavur and Panambur PS limits from 6 am on 25th December to 6 am on 27th December, so as to prevent any untoward incident in the wake of the murder." To prevent the incident. The sale of liquor has also been banned till 10 am on December 27.

Police said that according to the information received, the deceased has been identified as Jalil. The reason behind the attack is not yet known.


Police said Jaleel was stabbed when he was standing in front of his shop. His assailants fled from the spot after the assault. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital but died during treatment.


The police commissioner told ANI, "The injured breathed his last and now the body has been shifted to AJ Hospital for further procedures."
