Some passengers at Delhi airport T3 shared their complaints on Twitter on Saturday and Sunday. Several netizens tweeted pictures of Delhi airport's Terminal 3 where long queues can be seen during security checkpoints. Passengers said they had to wait for two to three hours at the evacuation area before the final departure of the flight.

Scindia also visited Terminal 3 (T3) of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Saturday (December 10). At that time he inspected the movement of passengers and baggage check posts, among other aspects.

Over the past two days, ministry officials said the Delhi Airport Authority has taken several steps, such as additional traffic marshalling at the departure concourse of T3 to avoid vehicular congestion.

Along with this, dedicated people have been deployed at the entry gate to help the passengers.

Officials said an additional X-ray machine has been installed at T3 domestic and more manpower has been deployed in the ATRS (Automatic Tray Retrieval System) area to prepare trays for passengers and help in crowd management.

Awareness posters have also been put up at the entry gates to ensure that passengers are ready with boarding cards.

Delhi airport has three terminals - T1, T2 and T3. All international flights and some domestic services operate from T3.

Airport officials said discussions are also underway with airlines to reduce the number of flights during peak hours at the three terminals. The endeavor is to have 14 flights at T3, 11 at T2 and 8 at T1 during these hours. Peak hours are generally in the morning and evening.

On an average, Delhi airport handles around 1.90 lakh passengers and around 1,200 flights per day.
