Following an increase in demand for travel from India to the UK, the UK had decided to bring back its standard 15-day visa process.
Last week, Alex Ellis warned about visa scammers doing the rounds on the internet, who are using his name to defraud Indian nationals seeking UK visas.
British High Commissioner Ellis asked Indians to remain suspicious and advised people not to share their account or credit card details with scammers.
“I am noticing an increase in visa scams using my name. Be suspicious: if it sounds too good to be true – like an easy job in the UK, or a quick and easy way to get a UK visa. If You are guaranteed a visa to the UK using documents provided by the scammers, British High Commissioner Ellis said in a tweet.
In another tweet, he said, "Be suspicious: If you are asked for money via email or phone. Do not share your bank account or credit card details. We will never ask you to pay in personal accounts."
Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswamy had announced that India is set to resume the e-Visa facility for British nationals visiting India.
