India, US to conduct training exercise in Uttarakhand

 




US Army personnel from the 2nd Brigade of the 11th Airborne Division and Indian Army personnel from the Assam Regiment will participate in the exercise. The training program focuses on the employment of an integrated battle group under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate.

New Delhi: The 18th edition of Indo-US joint training exercise 'Yudh Abhyas 22' is to be held in Uttarakhand this month, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Exercise Yudh Abhyas is conducted annually between India and the US, with the aim of exchanging best practices, strategies, techniques and procedures between the armies of the two countries," the ministry said.

The previous edition of the exercise was conducted in October 2021 at Joint Base Elmdorf Richardson, Alaska (US).

US Army personnel from the 2nd Brigade of the 11th Airborne Division and Indian Army personnel from the Assam Regiment will participate in the exercise. The training program focuses on the employment of an integrated battle group under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate.

The schedule will include all operations related to peace keeping and peace enforcement. The soldiers of both the countries will work together to achieve common objectives. The joint exercise will also focus on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.

Soldiers of both the countries will exercise to launch quick and coordinated relief efforts in the wake of any natural calamity.

A Command Post Exercise and Expert Academic Discussion (EAD) will be conducted on carefully selected topics to get full benefit from the professional skills and experiences of both the armies.

The scope of the field training exercise includes verification of integrated battle groups, force multiplier, setting up and functioning of surveillance grids, verification of operational logistics, mountain warfare skills, casualty evacuation and combat medical assistance in adverse terrain and climatic conditions.

The exercise will include exchanges and exercises on a broad spectrum of combat skills including combat engineering, UAS/counter UAS techniques and information operations.

It will help armies of both the countries to enhance their techniques through sharing of their vast experience, skills and exchange of information.
