New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and said that November 15 is a day to celebrate tribal tradition as Bhagwan Birsa Munda was not only the hero of our freedom struggle, but also the bearer of India's spiritual and cultural energy. .


The Prime Minister was congratulating the countrymen on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day through a video message today.


PM Modi said, "Expressing pride in the tribal heritage of the country through Tribal Pride Day and the resolve for the development of the tribal community is part of that energy."


He recalled the contribution of the tribal community in India's freedom struggle and recalled the major tribal movements and wars for independence: the Damin Sangram led by Tilak Manjhi; Larka movement under Budha Bhagat, Sidhu-Kanhu revolution; Tana Bhagat Movement; Vegda Bhil Movement; Nayakada Movement; Sant Joria Parmeshwar and Roop Singh Nayak; Limdi Dahod Battle; Govind Guru ji of Mangarh; and the Rampa movement under Alluri Sitarama Raju.


The Prime Minister listed measures to acknowledge and celebrate tribal contributions. He talked about tribal museums in different parts of the country and schemes like Jan Dhan, Govardhan, Van Dhan, Self Help Groups, Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Matritva Vandana Yojana, Gramin Sadak Yojana, Mobile Connectivity, Eklavya School, MSP . Up to 90 percent forest produce, Sickle Cell Anemia, Tribal Research Institute, Free Corona Vaccine and Mission Indradhanush, which have greatly benefited the tribal community.


PM Modi also highlighted the valor, community life and inclusiveness of the tribal society. “India has to learn from this grand heritage to shape its future. I am sure that the Tribal Pride Day will become an opportunity and medium for this."
