Admiral R Hari Kumar is on an official visit to Japan from 5-9 November.

Indian Navy ships Shivalik and Kavaratti also reached Yokosuka, Japan on 2 November 2022 to participate in IFR and Exercise Malabar - 2022.

New Delhi: Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral R Hari Kumar is on an official visit to Japan between 5 and 9 November 2022, where he will hold talks to strengthen bilateral maritime ties, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Navy is on an official visit to Japan from 5 to 9 November 22, where he will witness the International Fleet Review organized by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force at Yokosuka on 6 November, the 70th anniversary of its formation," the ministry said. .

During the visit, as one of the Observer Navies in the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS), CNS will participate in the 18th WPNS at Yokohama on 7 and 8 November 2022, which will be hosted by Japan with the current Chairman of WPNS . ,

Apart from representing India and the Indian Navy during IFR and WPNS, he will also be present for the inauguration of the 2022 edition of Exercise Malabar to be held at Yokosuka with the participation of Australia, Japan and USA. Launched in 1992, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Malabar exercise.

Admiral R Hari Kumar will also interact with his counterparts from around 30 participating countries and other heads of delegations in IFR, WPNS and Malabar.

Indian Navy ships Shivalik and Kavaratti also reached Yokosuka, Japan on 2 November 2022 to participate in IFR and Exercise Malabar - 2022.

The presence of these indigenously built ships of the Indian Navy at these multinational events will be an opportunity to showcase the shipbuilding capabilities of the Indian Shipyard during a large international gathering.

The visit of CNS to Japan marks the high level of bilateral defense ties with Japan as well as India's active support and participation in multilateral activities.
