Rajasthan government has sanctioned ₹204.81 crore for the expansion of Jaipur Metro


• Rajasthan government had announced extension of Jaipur Metro from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar (Phase 1C) and Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection (Phase 1D) in 2022-23.


The Rajasthan government has sanctioned ₹ 204.81 crore for the expansion of Jaipur Metro. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot gave financial approval for the construction of Phase 1D (Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection) of Jaipur Metro, to make this facility more accessible to the people, news agency PTI reported.


CM Gehlot had announced the extension of Jaipur Metro from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar (Phase 1C) and Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection (Phase 1D) in 2022-23.


At present, the metro runs from Mansarovar in Jaipur to Badi Chaupar.


Separately, the state on Saturday unveiled the world's tallest 369-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva in Nathdwara town in Rajasthan's Rajsamand district.


Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the "Vishva Swaroopam" statue.


Speaker CP Joshi said that the statue of "Vishvas Swaroopam" has been installed in Nathdwara after 10 years of hard work and dedication.


Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal said that no shortfall will be allowed in the development of Nathdwara.


Yoga guru Ramdev, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Gulab Chand Kataria and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.


The statue is constructed by Tat Padam Sansthan, about 45 km from Udaipur city.


The inauguration of the statue will be followed by a series of religious, spiritual and cultural programs for nine days from October 29 to November 6.


This idol, built on a hill of 51 bighas, is made in the posture of meditation and is said to be visible from 20 km away. The idol is clearly visible even at night as it is illuminated with special lights.


It took 10 years to build the statue.


3,000 tonnes of steel and iron and 2.5 lakh cubic tonnes of concrete and sand have been used in the construction.
