Odisha Police on Saturday arrested a government engineer after cryptocurrency worth over ₹1.75 crore was found in his possession, officials said.

The Additional Chief Engineer (Planning, Monitoring, Design and Investigation) arrested under Rural Water Supply and Sanitation was due to retire on Monday.

He was arrested for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The Vigilance Court has sent him to 14-day jail remand.

He said that in a corruption case, the vigilance department had found cryptocurrency in the raids of the Additional Chief Engineer.
