The IMD said that the pressure over central Bay of Bengal will intensify into a cyclonic storm by Diwali on the morning of October 24.

The weather forecasting agency said in its bulletin that the low pressure area over North Andaman Sea had intensified into a depression on Saturday, October 22, adding that it may bring rain to several states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday that the pressure over central Bay of Bengal will turn into a cyclonic storm by October 24, Diwali.

The Met Office also said that it will cross the Bangladesh coast between Tinakona Island and Sandwich around the morning of October 25.

“Pressure over east-central Bay of Bengal about 475 km northwest of Port Blair. To intensify into a cyclonic storm over central Bay of Bengal by the morning of 24 October. To cross Bangladesh coast between Tinakona Island and Sandwich around the morning of 25 October," IMD tweeted.

The weather forecasting agency said in its bulletin that the low pressure area over North Andaman Sea had turned into a depression on Saturday, 22 October, adding that it would bring likely rain over several states.

1) During 24th and 25th October, 2022, scattered/very widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. There is also a possibility of very heavy rainfall in Gangetic West Bengal on October 24 and 25, 2022.

2) Heavy rain warning has been issued for Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Cuttack and Khurda districts of Odisha.

3) Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said, "We have put officials of eight districts on high alert. The state is ready to face the challenge."

4) Widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely to occur over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 22nd to 24th October.

5) Very widespread/ widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls and thundershowers/lightning very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 24th and 25th; Assam and Meghalaya during 24-26 October and Mizoram and Tripura during 23-26 October.

6) Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 24th and 25th; Assam and Meghalaya and Mizoram and Tripura on October 24, 2022. Very heavy rainfall is also likely over South Assam and Meghalaya and Mizoram and Tripura on October 25.

7) Very widespread/ widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thundershowers very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe on 22nd October.
