So far, three rounds of collective bargaining have been conducted for Austrian Airlines' on-board employees (about 2,500 employees), but without results, Courier reported.

Austrian Airlines (AUA) reportedly offered inflation compensation of around 6.99 percent and only for the year 2023, but with inflation reaching double digits in Austria and no end in sight, pressure on the laboring Austrian subsidiary of Lufthansa increased. are.

“The inflation of the last twelve months has to be increased, and that in the longer term. So if the wages are not raised, the employees will face a real wage loss of 20 percent,” trade unionist Daniel Libert told Courier.

"The employees will be hit twice, so to speak", he said.

The next meeting of the workers will be held on Thursday, October 20. The trade union has already received a strike clearance approved by the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB).

The representative of the trade union said that delay on the date and cancellation of flight cannot be ruled out.

He said: "Staff meetings can go on for two or three hours or more because there is a great need for information. We also have a strike motion approved by the GB. This will also have to be discussed with colleagues."
