When PM Modi contacts Netanyahu, he emphasizes the need to stop the situation in West Asia from "regionally escalating."



Mr. Modi said that India is dedicated to aiding in the early restoration of peace and stability.

In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, September 30, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for preventing a "regional escalation" of the West Asian war. Days after Israel murdered Hezbollah head Hasan Nasrallah in Beirut, PM Modi called to offer support for Israel's counterterrorism efforts.

Spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu over the most recent events in West Asia. There is no room for terrorism in our planet. Maintaining the safe release of all captives and preventing regional escalation are of utmost importance. In a statement, Mr. Modi said, "India is committed to supporting efforts for an early restoration of peace and stability."

Three days had passed since Israel had murdered Hasan Nasrallah in a bombing strike using ground-penetrating missiles by Israeli air force planes. On October 7, the day when the Hamas gunmen assaulted Israeli locations in 2023 and kidnapped several Israelis, the crisis in Gaza will mark one year of existence.

As of as today, Hamas is still holding around 100 captives. India has remained committed to the two-state solution as a long-term means of resolving the Israel-Palestinian problem over the course of the year-long war. In spite of numerous pleas from the Israeli side, India has not designated Hamas as a terrorist organization.

On September 23, while attending the UN General Assembly annual gathering in New York, Mr. Modi met with President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, expressing his "deep concern" and "unwavering support" for the Palestinian people. A travel advise has been issued by India to its residents, advising them against traveling to Lebanon and to leave the country altogether due to the increasing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Lebanon hosts approximately 3,000 Indian citizens
