On Saturday, there will be a protest in Palayamkottai by members of the Maanjolai Area Residents' Welfare Association, political parties, and other organizations.
Members of the Maanjolai Area Residents’ Welfare Association, along with representatives from several political parties and other organizations, staged a demonstration in Palayamkottai on Saturday, demanding that the Tamil Nadu government bring the Maanjolai tea estate in the Western Ghats beyond the Manimuthar dam under its Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation (TANTEA).
Speaking to the demonstrators, the participants suggested that once the Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation's contract expires in February 2028, the Tamil Nadu government enable the workers to stay on the tea estates and bring them under the TANTEA.
They said that the workers should be placed under the TANTEA to enable them to work in Maanjolai, Kaakkaachi, Ooththu, Naalumukku, and Kuthiraivetti since they were not used to working in other plains vocations, such as farming.
Office bearers from other political parties, including as the AIADMK, Congress, MDMK, Left parties, BJP, and other organizations, joined in the agitation but the governing DMK refrained from participating.
