'My Week' Feature For Google Photos To Share Weekly Memories; Retro App CTO Takes 'Wow' Jibe

A 'My Week' feature that would allow users to share weekly memories with their loved ones is apparently being worked on by Google Photos. Co-founder of the Retro app Ryan Olson responded sarcastically to the functionality on X before to its launch.

The gallery platform for the search giant, Google Photos, is apparently getting ready to launch a new feature. Users will be able to share their weekly memories with others via the 'My Week' feature. Android Authority succeeded in turning on the functionality before it was officially released, not long after it was initially discovered in a teardown. In the 6.90 edition of Google Photos, the function was activated.

The story claims that the functionality may show up in the Memories carousel as the "Introducing My Week" card. A configuration window can appear after you touch on the function. You may add viewers to a weekly picture diary in order to share it. Using the "Add photos" feature, you may choose the photos you've snapped over the last several weeks and invite others to see them.

The Photos page will display your weekly memory straight to those who have been invited. They may see previous week's images in the album. Following the configuration, the pictures appear in the Memories carousel on a different card. On the receiving end, tapping the tile will launch a slideshow where users may comment or like individual photographs.

In addition to My Week, Assemble Debug noticed a change to the Places section's user interface. The next release could possibly include an upgrade for the picture details and a new map on top. For improved accessibility, the business may also relocate the Sharing activity option under Updates. Retro, a photo-sharing network, has noted parallels between My Week and the potential future function.

Ryan Olson, co-founder and CTO of Retro, said on X (previously known as Twitter) that he "felt like I've seen this somewhere," pointing out parallels in the invite-only functionality. Olson also highlighted the parallels between the function and Retro's user interface. But according to reports, the function is still under development and may alter before it's officially released.
