Having a fear of Nehru..., Congress requests that PM Modi acknowledge Jawaharlal Nehru's contribution to the founding of Austria

On July 9, Modi ends his trip to Russia and departs for Austria. Congress highlights Nehru's contribution to Austria's independence. Dr. Kochler acknowledges Nehru's role in keeping Austria neutral.

The Congress party reiterated Jawaharlal Nehru's crucial role in the early 1950s construction of an independent and neutral nation and asked prime leaders to keep his achievements in mind ahead of Modi's visit to Austria.

On October 26, 1955, which is recognized as National Day, the Republic of Austria was formally created, according to Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh. He underlined that despite Modi's constant criticism of Nehru, he played a crucial role in making this a reality.

"Dr. Hans Kochler, a noted Austrian academic, has written concerning the key role Jawaharlal Nehru played in the early fifties in the emergence of a sovereign as well as neutral Austria after a decade of administration by the victorious World War II powers," Ramesh said.

According to him, one of Nehru's greatest fans worldwide was the renowned Bruno Kreisky, the Chancellor of Austria from 1970 to 1983.

"Dr. Kreisky remembered Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1989, saying, 'One of the greatest and finest chapters in the history of this century as well as the men who have placed their stamp on it will be the story of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.'" It will feature in the most recent history of India. Nehru became one of my teachers very early on, according to Ramesh.

The head of Congress also provided people who are interested in diplomatic history with Kochler's retrospective.

"Those suffering from Nehruphobia - like our non-biological PM in addition to especially since 2019, our erudite and dapper External Affairs Minister - would also do well to recall it," Ramesh wrote in a piece for X.

"Nehru ji played a major role in devising the "neutrality" formulation that influenced the Russians to agree to Austrian freedom," Shashi Tharoor remarked, sharing the thread. His participation in the Suez Crisis the following year demonstrated that he was a unique perspective on global concerns
