Elon Musk just published his list of the best 12 audiobooks, which includes works on historical individuals, culture, and warfare. His selection of classic and thought-provoking literature is sure to appeal to those who are enthralled with the Roman Empire.
Tech tycoon Elon Musk recently shared a list of his top audiobook picks for those who think about Rome on X, the platform that was once Twitter. Mr. Musk said on Monday that while the books are lengthy, they are well worth the time. Books on combat, culture, and historical personalities were among his recommendations. The Story of Civilization by Will and Ariel Durant is his first suggestion. The Iliad in Penguin edition and Friedrich Hayek's The Road to Serfdom are the next two novels he recommended.
"Elon Musk wrote on X, recommending a few audiobooks. 'The Gallic Wars' by Julius Caesar, 'The Wages of Destruction' by Adam Tooze, 'The Storm of Steel' by Errist Junger, 'American Caesar' by William Manchester, '12 Against the Gods' by William Bolitho Ryall, and 'Genghis Khan' by Jack Weatherford were among the other books he recommended.
Additionally, Mr. Musk said, "Admittedly, this is a list that appeals to those who think about Rome every day," a reference to the internet's obsession with the Roman Empire.
"I hope someone makes an audiobook of The Fifteen Decisive Battles of the World by Creasy and The Encyclopedia of Military History by Dupuy," he said in closing.

Mr. Musk's tweet has received over 29 million views since it was posted.
In the meanwhile, Mr. Musk recommended podcasts last month during an X webcast. He said his best suggestion is the "Hardcore History" podcast hosted by Dan Carlin. The "Explorers Podcast," which highlights "the lives, explorations, and discoveries of history's greatest explorers," was another recommendation he made.
