Market perspective
The Nifty finished slightly down by 0.01 percent at 24,320.55 points, while the Sensex fell by 0.05 percent to 79,960.38 points at the end of trade.
The largest gainer was Nifty FMCG, which increased by 1.6 percent, followed by Nifty Oil & Gas, which increased by 0.8 percent. The largest loser on the downside was Nifty PSU Bank, which fell 1.6 percent. Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Metal also saw declines of 1.3 and 1 percent, respectively. Each of Nifty Bank, Realty, and Nifty Auto had a 0.5 percent decrease.
The basic trend in the market today, according to Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical Analyst at Angel One, is still favorable, although aggressive long positions on the index should be taken with care due to the overbought circumstances across a number of indicators.
We stress that a correction is probably coming soon, either in terms of price or time, and it seemed like Nifty was leaning toward the latter today. The major levels stretch to 24000 - 24600, however the current trading range is clearly apparent between 24200 and 24500. While an increase toward the indicated resistance level should cause traders to book profits, any decline toward the lower end would provide a buying opportunity. Bhosale advised traders to keep an eye on these levels and modify their tactics as necessary.
