Bill Maher unveils his choice to succeed President Obama and begs Joe Biden to withdraw: "In dire need of fresh personas"

One of the most recent people to call on Joe Biden to withdraw from the race after the president's horrible debate performance is HBO personality Bill Maher. In addition, he supported California Governor Gavin Newsom to challenge former President Donald Trump.

The Real Time with Bill Maher presenter, Maher, made an intriguing comparison between the decision between Biden and Trump and the Happy Days episode. The term "jumping the shark" originated from an episode in which Fonz is shown water-skiing and leaping over a shark while wearing his trademark jacket.

In response to Biden's disastrous debate performance, Maher penned a guest post for the fresh York Times titled, "If our presidential politics were a TV show, it might involve a series past its prime in desperate need of new characters."

Many prominent Democrats asked Biden to withdraw from the race for the sake of the nation after his performance in the presidential debate, during which he often stammered, froze, misspoke, and looked blankly. Even the liberal Times published an editorial urging the president to resign.

The editorial board of the Times said, as reported by the New York Post, "There is no reason for the party to risk the safety and soundness of the country by forcing voters to choose between Mr. Trump's inadequacies and those of Mr. Biden." "To just hope that Americans will ignore or minimize Mr. Biden's age and infirmity that they see with their own eyes is too big of a bet."

A "blessing in disguise" as opposed to a "tragedy."

Maher, however, said that the 81-year-old president "can't ignore the obvious; none of us can" in regards to his age. He said that Biden's loss was not a "tragedy" but rather "a blessing in disguise," adding that it presents him with the chance to step down and make way for a new candidate.

Maher pushed for an open convention for the Democratic Party. With all of George Soros's wealth, Maher said, "Democrats could not buy the enthusiasm, engagement, and a fascination they would get from having an open convention."

Maher said that he would want Newson to succeed Biden. He never falters, never hesitates to use statistics or language, is assertive, and never backs down. Maher praised Newsom, saying, "He's unbullyable, and that's important against Mr. Trump." Biden's determination to stay in the race, however, has turned into "an act of supreme selfishness."
