Now that he is officially a Laker, Bronny James has chosen his outfit for the next NBA campaign.
The first father-son team in NBA history is formed when the 19-year-old USC product moves to Los Angeles to play with his father, LeBron James. James's debut, like his father's, will be eagerly awaited this autumn.
Thankfully, James's new style in a Lakers outfit is already somewhat familiar to Lakers supporters. The youngster chose No. 9 and will wear it on Friday. James Jr. will also be printed on the back of his shirt.
James chose position nine. Why? Does he or his father see any meaning in it? Below are the answers to those questions from Sporting News.
For the Lakers, why is Bronny James wearing number nine?
James will play for the Lakers in 2024–25 and wear number nine. James Jr. will also be on his back.
The 19-year-old did not explain why he chose the jersey he did, although it may be a reverse of the number six that he wore while attending USC. His father also wore No. 6 for the Miami Heat and the Lakers for a short while.
James wore No. 0 throughout his time at Sierra Canyon for high school, but the Lakers presently have Jalen Hood-Schifino wearing the same number.
There have only been 15 players in Lakers history to wear No. 9, not including James. The last time Sterling Brown wore it was in 2023. The top 15 players to kill the number are shown below.
