GAIL would spend Rs 60,000 crore to establish the biggest ethane cracker facility in India in MP

The nation's leading gas provider, GAIL, has declared its plans to establish a 1500 KTA ethane cracker project in Ashta, Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district. The facility would produce a range of ethylene derivatives. According to GAIL, the project is expected to need an investment of Rs 60,000 crore.


The business said in an exchange filing that it has asked the Madhya Pradesh government to provide appropriate enablers for the project.


The MP Industrial Development Corporation Limited is to provide around 800 hectares of land; the state government has already started the process. GAIL's Board approval for the investment will be requested after a successful result for enablers."


"Notably, this project—which would need an expenditure of over Rs 60,000 crore—will be the biggest ethane cracker project in the nation. This project also includes a green field petrochemical complex proposal. Petrochemicals such as propylene, MEG, HDPE, and LLDPE will be produced under this. A statement from the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister's Office said that 15,000 people will be employed during the building phase of this project and about 5,600 persons during the operating phase.
