Atishi, the minister of water for Delhi, was admitted to the LNJP hospital because of her failing health.

To Put It Briefly

Atishi was taken to LNJP Hospital after a decrease in blood sugar.

Tuesday was the fifth day of her hunger strike over the water crisis in Delhi.

Despite her health worsening, Atishi insists she will continue her hunger strike.

After her health began to worsen while on an extended hunger strike against the Haryana government for failing to provide 100 million gallons of water per day (MGD), which was causing a water crisis in the nation's capital, Delhi Water Minister Atishi was brought to the hospital.

Due to her failing condition, Atishi was brought to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital early on Tuesday.

Tuesday was the fifth day of Atishi's indefinite hunger strike, during which she has demanded that Haryana give Delhi's fair share of water.

After examining Atishi on Monday, medical professionals at LNJP Hospital recommended that she be hospitalized because of the negative health consequences of her ongoing hunger strike. But Atishi swore she would keep up her indefinite fast.

"I've lost weight, and my blood pressure and sugar levels are also declining. The high amount of ketones may have negative long-term implications, according to Atishi. She refused to be admitted to the hospital in spite of these warnings, saying, "I will continue the fast till Haryana releases water, no matter how much my body suffers."

According to the AAP, Atishi's blood sugar levels fell to 36 at 3 am after falling to 43 at midnight. The AAP party also released pictures and videos showing the late-night hospitalization of the party's head.

"AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj tweeted, stating that Atishi has been admitted to LNJP Hospital after her blood sugar level dropped to 36."

Atishi has charged the BJP-led Haryana government of not discharging 100 million gallons per day (MGD) of water, which has an effect on over 28 lakh people in the nation's capital as Delhi struggles with a water scarcity.

"Water for Delhi is sourced exclusively from nearby states. Delhi's share of 100 MGD, or more than 46 crore liters of water, has been withheld by the BJP-led Haryana government, according to Atishi.

Delhi cabinet members met at the Jangpura hunger strike location to discuss the current issue and made the decision to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek a solution.

The national capital's high temperatures and heat waves gave rise to the problem of a water deficit.

Residents of Delhi have been depending on water tankers to provide them with the water they need each day.
