Drama around hostages occurs at a Russian jail facility

Russia media reports that in an effort to liberate two prison guards they were holding in the southern Russian city of Rostov, many hostage takers have been murdered. Following the special forces raid on the center, the guards are reportedly unharmed.

Knives were reportedly present in the six males who were being kept in a pre-trial detention facility. They were being prosecuted for terrorism, including having ties to the Islamic State (IS) organization. They had been requesting free exit from the center, a car, and weapons. Reports of the hostage kidnapping surfaced early on Sunday morning, prompting the dispatch of police and national guard personnel to the location.

One of the captives is heard stating that the inmates have "serious intentions" in a video that the prisoners have released.

The inmates claimed that their acts were "not spontaneous" and that they belonged to IS. According to reports, they were able to sneak mobile phones, knives, and IS flags into their cells.

They broke through the bars of a jail window and made their way into a guard room, where they took the hostages.

IS has claimed responsibility for a number of incidents that have occurred on Russian territory. The most recent incident was in March of this year when gunmen opened fire on a Moscow concert venue, leaving 145 people dead and over 500 injured.Despite Russia's attempts to associate Ukraine with the incident, Kyiv quickly rejected any participation.
