According to information provided to the BBC, CCTV video purports to show TV host Dr. Michael Mosley vanishing from view as he descends a slope near the location of his corpse. Dr. Mosley went missing on the Greek island of Symi, and his corpse was discovered four days later. A post-mortem examination is scheduled on Monday.
It is acknowledged that due to the state of the corpse, the coroner was unable to establish right away if Dr. Mosley had fallen.
On the neighboring island of Rhodes, where the post-mortem will be conducted, the coroner has arrived and is said to have ruled out the prospect of foul play.
On Sunday, the corpse of Dr. Mosley was discovered close to the Agia Marina beach bar on a slope.
It is claimed that surrounding footage, of which the BBC has been informed but has not viewed, captures what seems to be Dr. Mosley's last moments as he descends a hill and vanishes behind a wall.
At about 13:30 local time (11:30 BST) on Wednesday, the 67-year-old father of four were discovered missing after he left Agios Nikolaos beach to go for a stroll.
In sweltering heat, Greek officials searched widely for Dr. Mosley.
Teams scanning the seashore on Sunday discovered his corpse. The mayor of the island "saw something" near the pub's fence and notified staff, which is how the bar manager discovered his dead, according to the PA news agency. BBC News was informed by a police source that the deceased had been dead "for a number of days".
On Sunday, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, the spouse of Dr. Mosley, said that her family was "taking satisfaction in the fact that he so very nearly made it". Dr. Mosley was seen on CCTV trekking over rough terrain and across the bay in extreme heat. In a statement, Dr. Bailey Mosley stated, "He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen by the extensive search team."
In addition, she honored her "wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant" husband after the "devastating" discovery of his corpse. "Our life together was extraordinarily fortunate," Dr. Bailey Mosley said. We were really happy and in love with one another."
One among the people who paid new tributes to Dr. Mosley on Monday was Lord Tom Watson, the other person deputy leader of the Labour Party. "I can say that he altered my life. Mr. Watson, who claimed in 2018 to have "reversed" his type 2 diabetes via diet and exercise, stated on BBC Radio 4's Today program, "He gave me the idea that I wasn't broken."
After completing his medical studies in London and earning his medical license, Dr. Mosley has spent the following 20 years working as a journalist, author, presenter, and documentary filmmaker. He was well-known for his TV shows, which included Just One Thing on BBC Radio 4 and Trust Me, I'm a Doctor. He contributed a piece to the Daily Mail as well. Mr. Mosley has been a proponent of diets involving intermittent fasting, such as the 5:2 diet and The Fast 800 diet.
Co-host of Trust Me, I'm a Doctor alongside Dr. Mosley, Dr. Saleyha Ahsan, admitted to being "terrified" when she first accepted the position but that he "put me at ease almost immediately" on the BBC's Breakfast show. "That truly affable, approachable character [that] appears on television, that's exactly how he was in real life," she said.He accomplished amazing things for public health and medicine in a manner that I believe very few people have.
Lord Watson said how it was "like a light came on in my life" when he first read a book by Dr. Mosley. "I just became a real fan of his work in addition to over the years, he's helped me maintain that as well as help millions of others," he said. "And that's what great storytelling is: he explained very complex ideas of science in a very simple way."
Dr. Chris van Tulleken, a science broadcaster who collaborated with Dr. Mosley, said that over his career, his former colleague had created "an entire genre of broadcasting."
Dr. Mosley's work, he said, "quietly changed my daily practices," which included sometimes fasting and cleaning his teeth while standing on one leg. He said on BBC Radio 4's Today program, "He was giving people tools they might benefit from that everyone could afford."
