According to reports, Elon Musk's Tesla fired close to 16,000 workers, or more than 10% of its total staff worldwide. Numerous Chinese and Indian workers have been impacted by the layoff, and they are now battling the approaching H-1B visa deadline.
Engineers seeking employment in the US often use the H-1B non-immigrant work visa. The immigrants have 60 days from the date of issuance of this visa to find new job.

Among those let go is a Mumbai-born engineer who disclosed on LinkedIn that he spent more than six years working at the US headquarters of the electric car manufacturer.
He remarked that it "feels like a bad dream" to be laid off.
"It feels like a bad dream that I had am no longer in Tesla as I have given so much of my time and willingness to sacrifice my sleep toward this organisation from last more than five years," he said on LinkedIn.
In a post, a different LinkedIn user from India said that his sister, who had worked for Musk's Tesla for seven years, had been fired last Friday.
"She tried to enter the office and her card was deactivated," the message stated. "She's not by alone. Tesla lay off 16,000 workers on April 15. They then let go of 500 more workers after 15 days."
The article said, "It's a clear reminder of the human cost behind corporate decisions."
Tech magazine Electrek claims that Tesla has made workforce layoffs in the engineering, software, and service areas.
The business made its intention to fire roughly 6,700 workers from its locations in Nevada, Texas, California, and New York known last month.
The decision was made at a time when the firm is dealing with a number of difficulties, including dwindling sales and a more intense pricing war among manufacturers, which is made worse by high lending rates that are slowing down the uptake of electric cars.
