At Sony Interactive Entertainment, a New Leadership Structure Was Established


Hermen Hulst has been named CEO of the Studio Business Group, while Hideaki Nishino has been named CEO of the Platform Business Group. A commitment to sustainable growth is established by the new leadership structure.


The PlayStation developer, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), together with the Sony Group Corporation, today revealed the revised SIE leadership structure. Hideaki Nishino will take over as CEO of SIE's Platform Business Group on June 1, 2024, while Hermen Hulst will take over as CEO of SIE's Studio Business Group. In addition to his responsibilities as President, COO, and CFO of Sony Group Corporation, Hiroki Totoki, who has been acting as SIE's temporary CEO, will also hold the position of Chairman. Reporting to Totoki, Nishino and Hulst plan to work closely together to enhance their respective core businesses and make the most of SIE's synergies.

Currently serving as SVP of the Platform Experience Group, Nishino is in charge of the group that creates the technologies and experiences found in PlayStation goods and services. Through the advances in the PlayStation 5, the immersiveness of the PlayStation VR2, and the ability to connect millions of players via the PlayStation Network, the Platform Experience Group continues to push the frontiers of play. Nishino will still be in charge of technology, goods, services, and platform experience in his new role as CEO of the Platform Business Group. Along with managing commercial operations, which include marketing and sales of peripherals, services, and hardware, he will also be in charge of third-party publisher and developer connections.

Currently holding the position of SVP and Head of PlayStation Studios, Hulst is in charge of creating content for a variety of platforms, including PCs and PlayStation consoles, as well as bringing video game intellectual property (IP) to new media via PlayStation Productions. The PlayStation Productions team created the Emmy-winning television series "The Last of Us," which was adapted from an award-winning game. They are now working on numerous more game adaptations. Hulst will be in charge of SIE's first party-content creation, publishing, and business operations in his new position as CEO of the Studio Business Group.
