Diddy issues an apology for his 'inexcusable' actions

Approximately one week before to the video's alleged filming, the ex-couple was seen at a movie screening in Los Angeles.

After it emerged on CCTV that he was assaulting singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, Sean "Diddy" Combs issued an apology for his "inexcusable" actions.

The rapper claimed in a video that he uploaded to his Instagram page that he accepted full responsibility for his conduct in the picture.

CNN showed what looked to be video of Mr. Combs assaulting and kicking his ex-girlfriend in a hotel corridor earlier this week.

"When I did it, I felt disgusted. "Now that I'm disgusted," he said.

"I went and looked for expert assistance. I started attending counseling and treatment. I had to beg God to be kind and forgiving. I really apologize."

The video looks to be a composite of perspectives from CCTV film dated March 5, 2016, although the BBC has not independently authenticated it.

It was recorded in the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, according to CNN.

The alleged attack seen on camera may be too old to prosecute, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office on Friday.

Ms. Ventura resolved her complaint against Mr. Combs in November of last year for an unknown amount. In the lawsuit, she accused him of sexual trafficking and rape over a ten-year period.

Benjamin Brafman, the attorney for Mr. Combs, said at the time that the agreement to compromise was "in no way an admission of wrongdoing".

Since then, a number of more women have sued, claiming the rapper abused them physically and sexually.

As a part of a federal investigation into human trafficking, his houses in Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, were seized last month.
