China's BYD unveiled its most recent plug-in hybrid technology generation on Tuesday. With empty batteries, it can travel a record-low 2.9 liters every 100 km (62.1 miles) of gasoline.
The invention was introduced by BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu at a speech in Xian, the provincial capital of Shaanxi, where the business established its first vehicle plant after its 2003 acquisition of Qinchuan Automobile Co.
