Network18 Exclusive: PM Modi on stepping up beyond politics in response to problems with Rahul Gandhi's plane
PM Modi remembered how, in times of need, he helped his political opponents, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
In an exclusive conversation with News18 Network, Prime Minister Modi discussed putting politics aside.
In a message of putting politics aside, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he once contacted Rahul Gandhi as soon as he learned that his aircraft was having problems.
In an exclusive interview, the Prime Minister addressed News18 Lokmat Anchor Vilas Bade, News18 Kannada Editor Hariprasad, and News18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi.
In the interview, he vindicated BJP head JP Nadda's choice to go to the home of Congress councillor Neha Hiremath, whose daughter Fayaz, a former classmate, had fatally stabbed her.
Was this the reason Karnataka elections were becoming more focused on these kinds of issues?
"This incident happened while Nadda ji was in Karnataka attending a programme." Which party does he belong to, or does he belong to Congress? His daughter was killed. I don't think or appreciate things like this. Furthermore, it's a question of human sensibility, and even in the heat of election season, I think what he did was the right thing to do," he said.
Then, Prime Minister Modi remembered how he had helped his political opponents, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, in times of need.
"When the helicopter carrying Sonia ji (Sonia Gandhi), Ahmed Patel sahab, crashed in Daman, I was the chief minister of Gujarat. When I informed them I was sending an air ambulance, Ahmed Patel sahab assured me they weren't in any type of emergency and that everything was OK. When Sonia ji became unwell while on an election campaign in Kashi, I dispatched someone there right away to investigate and, if necessary, arrange for an airplane to take her home. Consequently, these are my beliefs, and they go beyond politics. Therefore, in my opinion, every family issue should be settled by putting politics aside," he stated.
