The Democrats of Puerto Rico also selected 36 of the 65 delegates they want to send to the National Democratic Convention, which will take place in Chicago in late August, on Sunday.
Despite being citizens of the United States, Puerto Ricans are not permitted to cast ballots in presidential elections.
The president of Puerto Rico's Democratic Party, Charlie RodrÃguez, said earlier this year that he planned to organize a symbolic presidential election in November for people who were ready to choose their future leader.
