The firm aims to cut over 13.52 lakh tons of carbon emissions yearly by the targeted year, while producing over 1.9 billion units of clean power annually. "In the last two fiscals (FY22 and FY23), the company have managed to successfully reduce 2.4 lakh tonnes of Co2 emissions) pushing it a step closer towards carbon neutrality and responsible manufacturing," added the statement.
According to the firm, it has begun operating utilizing renewable energy sources. Additionally, it has begun to produce green hydrogen for use in the steel-making process. In addition, JSL has upgraded its technology and implemented digitalization at its Odisha and Haryana plants to improve energy efficiency and use of electric vehicles.
"These initiatives have contributed to the significant reduction of about 2.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions over the past two fiscal years," the business said. Additionally, it has joined the SBTi project, through which the international climate action group will create policies to assist the business in reaching its net-zero carbon goals.
The research-founded Targets project (SBTi), founded in the United Kingdom, creates guidelines, standards, and tools to help businesses set aggressive carbon reduction goals that are in line with climate research.
