Apple and CleanMax collaborate to develop solar rooftop projects in India

Along with the two newly opened retail locations in Mumbai and New Delhi, the energy additions will power Apple's corporate headquarters in India.

For its worldwide business activities, the company claimed to have already reached 100% renewable energy in 2018.

Apple, the manufacturer of iPhones, said on April 17 that it will partner with CleanMax, a producer of renewable energy, to invest in six rooftop solar projects totaling 14.4 megawatts, as part of its goal to increase the amount of sustainable energy sources it uses.

According to the US-based tech giant's blog, the energy enhancements will power Apple's corporate headquarters in India as well as the two newly opened retail locations in Mumbai and New Delhi.

For its worldwide business activities, the company claimed to have already reached 100% renewable energy in 2018.

Apple said, "More than 18 gigawatts of clean electricity now power Apple's global operations as well as production supply chain, more than triple the amount in 2020."

In high-stress areas, the corporation is also attempting to refill all of the fresh water utilized for corporate activities.

According to Lisa Jackson, vice president of environment, policy, as well as social initiatives at Apple, "clean energy and water are necessary building blocks for a responsible business and the cornerstones of healthy communities." "As we embark on the long-term work to transform electrical grids as well as restore watersheds to build an environmentally conscious future for all, we're racing toward our ambitious Apple 2030 climate goal."

To fuel its activities, the business has also worked with other global energy companies.

According to the firm, it plans to add more solar projects to its portfolio in Michigan and is on schedule to provide 132 megawatts of sustainable energy to the grid in the US. Additionally, it has joined together with a Spanish solar development platform for a 105 megawatt project that should be online by year's end.

Regarding the new endeavor, CleanMax's managing director, Kuldeep Jain, said, "CleanMax is proud of its joint venture with Apple." Our goal is to engage with corporations on sustainability, and we see this joint venture as a significant turning point in that direction. It presents a strategy to the development of green energy assets that leads the industry. One encouraging indicator of the move towards sustainability is the rising interest in these cooperative partnerships from other consumer brands.
