The new rate structure for urban taxis and cabs operating via app-based aggregators like Uber and Ola was announced by the Karnataka Transport Department on Saturday.
The agency has issued a new regulation stating that both municipal taxis and app-based cab aggregators would charge the same fee. The amended tariff will take effect immediately across the state, according to news agency PTI.
The rates for these types of taxis used to be different.
What is the new taxi price structure in Karnataka?
Cabs have been divided into three groups under the new tariff structure according to the vehicle's price.
The minimum charge for automobiles purchased for less than ₹10 lakh is ₹100 for the first four kilometers and ₹24 for each further kilometer.
The minimum ticket for those costing between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh is ₹115, and the cost each kilometer is ₹28.
The minimum fee for those costing more than Rs 15 lakh is ₹130, and each further kilometer will cost an additional ₹32.
PTI claims that the directive makes it very clear that no taxi aggregator would be permitted to impose additional fees.

The first five minutes are free of charge, after which customers will be charged Re 1 per minute for waiting.
"In addition, app-based integrators can also collect five per cent GST as well as toll charges from passengers," according to the latest decision.
