In the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Manmohan Singh used his wheelchair to vote in order to uphold democracy.

On Thursday, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Dr. Manmohan Singh, his predecessor who governed the country from 2004 to 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that "Manmohan Singh came to vote in the Rajya Sabha wearing a wheelchair to help strengthen democracy."

As retiring members of the Rajya Sabha bid them goodbye, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke.

"Today in the House, I would want to honor Dr. Manmohan Singh for his outstanding insights and his enormous leadership and opposition-building contributions. In his address to the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Modi said, "Dr. Manmohan Singh will always be appreciated for the way he directed this House and the country, for so long."

Prime Minister Modi said, "Hopefully the experience of retired MPs will be beneficial to the country as well as inspire the new generations."

In the ancient Parliament House, Modi said, "it was known which the ruling party would win, but Dr. Manmohan Singh entered in his wheelchair as well as cast his vote against the government." It just required one person to stay vigilant." An illustration of "his duties."

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar's home will host a goodbye party for retired Rajya Sabha members on Thursday. At ten in the morning, Rajya Sabha members participated in a group portrait at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He'll be at the retired members' goodbye ceremony later at 6.30 p.m. at the Speaker's house, which is located at 6 Maulana Azad Road.

He dubbed it "kala tika" (to shield from evil eye) amid excellent work and took a sly jab at the Congress by thanking Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge for putting out the "black letter" against his administration. It's what their government is doing.

In addition, the Prime Minister said, "We also saw a fashion exhibition in the Rajya Sabha when some members came wearing black clothes." She was referring to the opposition MPs' black robes worn in the House as a symbol of protest.

Congratulating each retiring member, he said he hoped their experiences would be useful to the next generations.

After serving their terms, sixty-eight Rajya Sabha members will retire between February and May.
