IMD Weather for Today: North India is experiencing extreme cold due to a cold wave and fog. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi-NCR are still experiencing a cold wave. In these states, the lowest recorded temperature is less than 10 degrees Celsius.


On Saturday morning, the thick fog in Delhi-NCR lifted. That being said, since this morning, there have been freezing winds. The Meteorological Department reports that on January 20 there was a cold wave and on January 21 there was a yellow alert in the city.


In Uttar Pradesh, too, the effects of cold waves and extreme cold are being felt. The majority of Uttar Pradesh's districts, including Lucknow, reported the coldest day and night of the winter so far on Saturday. The Meteorological Department reports that chilly weather is affecting majority of Uttar Pradesh's districts. The state's average maximum temperature is reported to be 17 degrees, while the lowest recorded temperature is less than 10 degrees.


In Bihar, there is also a cold wave with very low temperatures. For the next five days, Bihar will experience the brutality of winter. Up to January 24, there is a chance of very cold temperatures in the state. Experts advised not leaving one's house unless absolutely necessary.


The Meteorological Department reports that 20 districts in Madhya Pradesh have received a cold wave notice. In four districts of Madhya Pradesh, rain is possible. In the districts of Anuppur, Dindori, Khandwa, and Balaghat, rain and thunderstorms are expected, according to the Meteorological Department. There's a chance that the temperature in Chhattisgarh may rise as well. The Meteorological Department reports that there could be a little rain in a few districts, such as Raipur and Durg-Bhilai.
