Denouncing media allegations about the immunization campaign, the ministry said that it regularly communicates with state and federal health ministries and keeps a close eye on instances of cervical cancer in the nation. It said that rumors in the media suggesting that the government would begin immunizing girls between the ages of 9 and 14 against the human papillomavirus (HPV) in the second quarter of 2024 are "not true."


The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) suggested in June 2022 that the HPV vaccine be added to the universal immunization program with a "one-time catch-up" for teenage females between the ages of 9 and 14, followed by a regular introduction. The administration informed the Rajya Sabha in March that he was nine years old.
