Due to the terrible weather, schools in Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Ranipet will also stay closed.


On January 8, district collector Shravan Kumar Jatvath said that owing to the heavy rains, all schools in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu, had been declared closed.


In addition, district collectors from a number of areas have announced vacations for institutions and schools in Cuddalore, Kilvelur taluk, Nagapattinam, and Viluppuram as a result of the persistent rains.


Due to the terrible weather, schools in Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Ranipet will also stay closed.


Tamil Nadu rain forecast


The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) in Chennai has predicted rain in a number of Tamil Nadu districts throughout the next week, according to ANI. The prediction indicates that Sunday will bring significant rain in a few locations throughout the state's ten districts.


The RMC highlighted places like Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli districts, and Puducherry as regions where heavy rains are predicted.


Flash floods impact Old Courtallam Falls


The ancient Courtallam Falls in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, at the base of the mountain range, experienced flash floods after heavy rains in the Western Ghats. Authorities have thus forbade visitors from swimming in adjacent water sources, which is a well-liked attraction in the area.


Many visitors have been deterred from visiting the falls by this swimming ban, particularly on Saturdays, which are the busiest weekend days for such trips.
