Nearly three months after enacting the tax in response to increasing jet fuel costs, IndiGo said on Thursday that it had discontinued collecting fuel fees on tickets.

The airline said that the fuel fee has been removed since the cost of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has recently decreased.

IndiGo released a statement saying, "Since ATF prices are dynamic, we are going to keep altering our fares as well as its components in order to accommodate any changes in prices or market conditions."

An important portion of a carrier's operational expenses is fuel.

Both local and international flights operated by the airline were subject to the fuel fee.

According to IndiGo, a spike in the price of ATF led to the implementation of the fuel charge in October 2023.
